North Port – The Playful City

The City of North Port is located in Sarasota County between Tampa and Fort Myers, south of the city of Sarasota. It is easily accessible from I-75.

The city is home to over 74,000 residents. It belongs to the Sarasota-Bradenton Metropolitan Area and county of Sarasota. It was developed as a northern section of the Port Charlotte development and officially received its name in 1974.

The city has total area of 04.16 sq. miles, which makes it one of the few cities in the SW Florida covering such a big area, while population density is about 576.0 inhabitants per sq. mile.

Schools

North Port has five elementary schools, one public charter school, two middle schools, one high school, and one college operated by Sarasota County Public Schools.

Sports and Recreation

North Port is the Spring Training home of the Atlanta Braves.

A state-of-the-art Aquatic Center offers fun and entertainment. Famous Warm Mineral Springs, a notable artesian spring, and the Little Salt Spring, an archaeological and paleontological site owned by the University of Miami, offer serene enjoyment. Water is nature source of energy, healing, and power.

Sarasota welcomes you with breathtaking beaches of the Lido, Longboat and Siesta keys, gorgeous sunsets, beautiful golf courses, and numerous tennis courts available all year round for your enjoyment. If you are an art lover, Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, and local theatres, clubs and studios are here for your enjoyment.

Within an hour drive is the Florida Aquarium of Tampa and Dali Museum of St. Petersburg. Disney World is in Orlando, which is within 2.5-hour drive from Sarasota.

Sarasota is a home to Siesta Key Beach, one of the best beaches in the country and in the world. You can play volleyball or swim in its warm clear waters or walk for miles in the charming awakening mornings.
